Overview
Compass Associates are proud to be working with a growing residential childcare provider to recruit a Registered Manager for a two-bed children’s home in West Midlands. This vacancy has arisen following the departure of the current manager, and the organisation is seeking a committed individual to lead the service through registration and deliver high-quality, therapeutic care.
The Candidate
The Registered Manager will take full responsibility for the leadership and daily operation of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations, promoting child-centered care, and fostering a safe and nurturing environment for young people who have experienced trauma. The role requires strong leadership, a solid understanding of therapeutic approaches, and the ability to inspire and develop a new staff team. Candidates from Deputy Manager level who are ready to step up will also be considered if they can demonstrate the drive and capability to succeed in the role.
Essential Criteria

Completed or enrolled in the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Children and Young People’s Services
*
Experience in children’s residential care
*
Strong knowledge of Ofsted legislation and standards
*
Ability to demonstrate a child-centered and therapeutic approach
*
Proven leadership ability, with experience supervising or managing staff teams
*
Commitment to long-term stability and development of the service
*
Driver with access to a vehicle
*
Clear and enhanced DBS
Salary and Benefits
The salary is between £50,000 and £65,000, dependent on experience. Additional benefits include:

Location
The home is located around North Birmingham. The role is commutable from Walsall, Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth, Cannock, Litchfield, and surrounding areas.
Interview Process
The process begins with an initial call via phone or Teams, followed by a face-to-face interview in West Midlands with the company’s directors. The interview will include scenario-based discussions to assess decision-making and leadership style. Candidates are not required to prepare a presentation.
