An opportunity has arisen for a Transport Planner to join the team at GIF Transport.
GIF is currently based in Inverurie but will be relocating to Dyce, Aberdeen early 2026.
You will be planning for distance and international moves. With a growing modern fleet of state of the art trucks, our specialist drivers carry a wide variety of loads for the energy sector, foodstuffs, abnormal loads and general cargo. Working within a small team, you will be planning for a fleet of 20 vehicles, ensuring a consistent high quality service and working to our mantra of “where there’s a will, there’s a way”
GIF Transport was established in 2015 and provides a 24/7 road haulage service. In August 2025, GIF Transport became part of the Williams Shipping Group. Established in 1894, Williams Shipping is a family-run marine and logistics business. With over 170 employees working in 6 different sites, the company has grown enormously since it’s early days. The logistics arm of the business specialises in transporting abnormal, out of gauge & heavy loads, operating across the UK and into Europe.
Transport Planner Responsibilities:
1. Reporting to the Operations Manager.
2. Utilising the transport management software to ensure that the scheduling of vehicles is carried out effectively and efficiently to achieve the optimum transport plan.
3. Plan to ensure that customer service criteria requirements are met at all times.
4. Ensure that the plan is clearly communicated to all necessary parties and maintain regular contact with customers.
5. Liaise closely with the Warehouse team to achieve the most effective plan.
Requirements:
6. Experience of working in or alongside a Transport Planning Team
7. Experience within a logistics working environment
8. Able to work under pressure in a time critical environment
9. Ability to communicate at all levels
10. Analytical skills
11. Computer literate including Microsoft Office
12. Good geographical knowledge of UK.
13. Reliable, enthusiastic and flexible in approach
Salary & Benefits
14. Negotiable depending on experience
15. 45 hours/week, although you may be required to work additional hours as necessary, to meet the needs of the business.
16. On call/weekend cover on a rota basis
