SEMH School Support Role
SEMH School Support Role
We are seeking dedicated, resilient, and compassionate individuals to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision supporting boys aged 11-16.
This setting caters for students with a range of complex additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and other barriers to learning. Many of the young people have experienced challenges in mainstream education and require consistent, structured, and nurturing support to help them re-engage with learning and develop positive relationships.
The role involves working closely with students both in and out of the classroom to support their academic progress, emotional regulation, and social development. You will play a key role in helping to create a safe, calm, and purposeful learning environment, using de-escalation strategies and building strong, trusting relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Assist with managing behaviour in a calm and proactive manner
• Help deliver tailored learning activities
• Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will:
• Have experience working with young people with SEMH needs (desirable but not essential)
• Be patient, resilient, and empathetic
• Be confident managing challenging behaviour
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Be committed to making a positive impact on young people’s lives
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:00pm
