We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Building Surveyor to join our vibrant and growing Building Consultancy team in Preston, Lancashire. This is your chance to be part of a diverse range of projects across the private sector, healthcare, education, local authorities, and wider public sector. From early design stages right through to project completion, you'll gain hands on experience delivering a wide spectrum of technical services, including building inspections, design solutions, measured surveys and condition reports. Working alongside experienced Chartered Surveyors and supported by our Eric Wright Partnerships team, you'll contribute to developing detailed client briefs and play a key role in bringing buildings to life.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with 1–3 years' experience who is looking to take the next step in their career. What you'll be doing:
1. Undertake measured and condition surveys defect analysis.
2. Assist in the management of building contracts maintaining contractual and fiscal control.
3. Monitor small works contracts and undertake site monitoring visits.
4. Carry our snagging inspections in a methodical manner in order to monitor quality and workmanship.
5. Prepare specifications, drawings and schedules of works.
6. Lead the design and delivery of projects from inception to completion.
7. Carry out defect diagnosis inspections and prepare associated reports and recommendations.
8. Prepare pre-construction health and safety information.
9. Liaise with Clients, Contractors and other consultants (internal and external)
About you:
10. Industry experience in a similar role, either from a placement year or post-graduation employment
11. A degree in Building Surveying or due to graduate in the current academic year
12. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
13. Ability to thrive in a busy and fast-paced environment
14. Proficient in IT packages, with particular confidence using AutoCAD
