🏗️ Structural Engineer – Iron & Steel Plants
📍Stockton on Tees
Purpose:
Design and analyse safe, sustainable, and cost-effective structures for iron and steel facilities. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Produce and review technical documentation (drawings, specs, calculations, manuals).
* Act as the structural lead on projects, ensuring technical integrity and commercial viability.
* Liaise with internal teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
* Conduct structural calculations and review civil engineering aspects.
* Oversee manufacturing, testing, and installation of structures.
* Participate in safety reviews and risk assessments.
* Advise on construction methodologies and best practices.
Skills & Competencies:
* Strong grasp of heavy industry turnkey projects.
* Proficient in structural design and calculations (MathCAD/Excel).
* Basic CAD skills (Autodesk preferred); advanced 3D CAD is a plus.
* Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Minimum 2 years in industrial structural engineering.
* Degree in Structural Engineering preferred; HNC/HND considered.
* Experience in heavy industry or iron & steel sector desirable.
* Project lifecycle exposure and professional membership advantageous.
