Job Summary
Hospice Nurse (Permanent Contract) – Harrogate Based. Hours: 22.5–30 hours per week (24 hours shift pattern). Salary: £41,179.14 per annum FTE (45% of hours need to be in unsocial hours). About The Role
An exciting opportunity for a registered adult nurse with a minimum of two years clinical experience who has a strong desire to deliver excellent standards of palliative and end-of-life care in a hospice setting. The successful candidate will work on our specialist 10-bedded inpatient unit within Saint Michaels Hospice. You will work alongside our experienced MDT specialist practitioners to deliver high-quality care to inpatients. A robust induction period with clinical competencies is provided, along with regular training and education on in-house study days.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Planning and delivering patient-centred care, working closely with patients and their families.
* Acting as the shift coordinator, overseeing high-quality team nursing care and coordinating wider team care that puts patients at the heart of what we do.
* Acting as the key worker for a designated caseload, showing nursing leadership by providing care as part of a multidisciplinary team.

What You Need to Apply – Person Specification
Essential
* Registered Nurse with NMC
* Nursing Degree or suitable alternative
* Have or be prepared to work towards practice assessor qualification
* Current practical experience of nursing in a clinical setting
* Ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care
* Ability to assess complex patient needs and escalate appropriately
* A good level of understanding and interest in palliative care and end-of-life care
* Excellent communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Excellent record keeping and documentation
* IT literate with the ability to use Microsoft and Outlook
* Understanding of infection control
Desirable
* European Palliative Care Certificate or relevant post-graduate learning
* Experience leading care for patients at end of life or requiring symptom control
* Understanding of Clinical Audit

Reports to: Senior Team Nurse or Nursing Manager. Responsible for: No line management responsibilities. Location: North Yorkshire Hospice Care sites. NHS Equivalent: Band 5 (top).
General: The role may require flexibility with shifts to ensure safe, high-quality care. All staff contribute to the hospice's mission and participate in mandatory and statutory training as required.
