Job Description
Build the Future of Scientific Technology - Workshop Technician Wanted
Are you the kind of person who enjoys taking things apart, rebuilding them better, and making precision equipment work flawlessly?
We’re hiring a Workshop Technician to join a hands-on engineering team creating advanced scientific instruments used in cutting-edge biomedical and research environments.
This is not a routine assembly job, it’s a practical role where you’ll work closely with engineers, product teams, and customers to ensure high-performance systems are built, tested, repaired, and continuously improved.
Your Mission
You’ll be at the heart of our workshop operations, helping to:
* Build and test electromechanical scientific systems from the ground up
* Diagnose faults, repair instruments, and keep equipment running at peak performance
* Support field servicing and customer installations (including occasional international travel)
* Create workshop tools, jigs, and fixtures to support faster, smarter production
* Take ownership of stock, parts organisation, shipping, and workshop flow
* Collaborate with R&D and design teams to improve future builds and processes
Who This Suits Best
This role is ideal for someone who’s naturally practical, curious, and enjoys solving real-world mechanical and electrical challenges.
You’ll thrive if you have:
* Strong hands-on skills and confidence using tools
* Experience assembling or repairing electromechanical products
* The ability to read wiring schematics, procedures, and engineering drawings
* A detail-focused mindset and pride in high-quality work
* Independence and clear communication skills
What You’ll Gain
* A fast-moving, innovative engineering environment
* Opportunity to grow across manufacturing, service, and R&D
* Work on technologies that directly support biomedical breakthroughs
* International travel and customer-facing engineering experience
* Competitive salary, pension, and generous holiday allowance
Nice-to-Haves (Not Required)
If you have interest or experience in any of these, even better:
* CAD or mechanical design tools
* 3D printing or prototyping
* Robotics or automation projects
* Workshop/lab safety best practice
Inclusive & People-First Culture
We believe great teams are built from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. What matters most is your ability, motivation, and passion for building technology that makes a difference.
