Job Title: Teacher of Economics Location: Malton, North Yorkshire Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only Start Date: September 2026 or sooner Salary: £168.80 – £261.79 per day Are you a knowledgeable and passionate Teacher of Economics looking for a new opportunity? Do you have the ability to bring real-world economic concepts to life and inspire students to think critically about how economies, markets, and global financial systems operate? GSL Education are currently hiring a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Economics to work in secondary schools across Malton and the surrounding areas. As a Teacher of Economics, you will deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that develop students’ understanding of economic theory, current affairs, and real-world application. You will play a key role in helping learners build analytical skills, interpret data, and form balanced arguments on key economic issues. Main Responsibilities as a Teacher of Economics: Plan and deliver engaging Economics lessons in line with the national curriculum and exam specifications. Teach a range of topics including microeconomics, macroeconomics, markets, supply and demand, and global economics. Develop students’ analytical, evaluative, and numerical skills. Encourage critical thinking through discussion of real-world economic issues and case studies. Support students in developing exam techniques and achieving strong academic outcomes. Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities, including those requiring additional support. Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback. Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and academic achievement. Contribute to departmental resources and curriculum development where required. Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and curiosity. Teacher of Economics Minimum Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification. Experience teaching Economics or Business-related subjects within a secondary school setting. Strong subject knowledge of economic principles and current global economic trends. Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills. Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and engaging way. Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one). Why Work with GSL Education?
