Overview of the role:
To design components and systems for use on JCB Material Handling products.
To plan and manage the design of components and systems from concept to production release.
Create models and drawings of components and systems for use on JCB Material Handling machines using Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
Manage offshore design work with the JCB Design Centre in India.
Compile documentation and data for production release of components and systems through Teamcenter.
Estimate cost of components and assemblies.
Carry out DFMEA, Risk Assessment, on new and changed designs.
Take part in engineering problem solving activities including 8D and the use of other related methods.
Produce documentation demonstrating design compliance with regulatory requirements.
Provide direct support for manufacturing, assembly and quality functions for problem investigation and resolution, including the use of 8D and other problem solving methodologies.
Liaison with other business functions as required.
About you:
Relevant business/manufacturing/engineering degree preferred. Also considered ONC, OND, A levels, City & Guilds Level 3, BTec Level3, NVQ level 3 in relevant subjects. For this position the candidate should be able to demonstrate a minimum of three years in a mechanical engineering design role. Direct experience of off-highway vehicles is preferred, but other backgrounds will be considered, e.g. on highway commercial vehicles, rail vehicles.
The ability to read engineering drawings and understand the processes used in the manufacturing of components and how they influence design and cost.
IT literate and able to learn to use a variety of JCB’s IT systems and tools.
Familiarity with MS Word and MS Excel.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Good interpersonal skills.
Working conditions:
The role will report to an Engineering Manager.
The role will be office based with the MH&A engineering team at JCB World HQ at Rocester.
Travel to meetings at other JCB sites will be occasionally required.
Working week will be 39 hours.
