About this role
We are looking for a Network Architect Team Leader to join our team. We are growing our Data and Services business, creating insights from satellites developed and operated in-house.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end architecture, design, implementation and evolution of hybrid space–terrestrial telecommunications networks. This is essential for AAC Clyde Space to achieve its ambition to lead the creation of new VDES maritime communication services. The role combines deep technical leadership and building capability, ensuring delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performance data and communication services across satellite, ground, and cloud infrastructures in line with company plans, budgets and standards.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with a passion for product quality and innovation, who has experience of working with Earth Observation and geospatial data. You should be comfortable working in an Agile development environment. The position offers the opportunity to share your expertise in a fast-growing space technology company that is bringing new data and insights to address challenges in business and government.
The role is based in London where Hybrid Working is available. The nature of the role will require essential, occasional business travel (both local and global) plus the occasional ‘out of hours’ work that may be required to support customer and business activities.

Key Responsibilities
* Define and own the end-to-end network architecture for space systems, including space segment, ground segment and cloud integration
* Evaluate architectural options for the deployment of core, user access, security, data, operations and business domains to meet strategic and project objectives
* Architect data transport, routing, and service delivery for Telemetry, tracking & control (TT&C), payload data distribution and services
* Lead architectural trade-offs considering functional, non-functional and cost drivers.
* Set architectural standards, design methodologies, and documentation practices including security by design principles
* Ensure compliance with space, telecom, and security standards (e.g. CCSDS, 3GPP, ETSI, ITU)
* Design data pipelines and technology platforms to support message exchange within safety critical services
* Support the integration of analytics and data services on top of the network infrastructure.
* Act as the technical authority for network architecture in programs and bids.
* Engage with relevant stakeholders, partners and colleagues
* Support proposal development, including architecture descriptions, risk assessments, and cost drivers.
* Responsible for staffing decisions and development through the employment lifecycle
* Develop and maintain capability skills matrix to proactively understand competence within the team for effective resource management.
Skills required
* Relevant degree or equivalent work experience
* Previous industry experience in the space industry or other regulated environment
* Strong background in telecommunications and IP networking (IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, routing, QoS)
* Proven experience with satellite communications systems and space-ground integration.
* Experience with narrow-band messaging services
* Knowledge of Inter-satellite links and space networking concepts and cloud networking
* 5G/NTN integration and future 6G concepts
* Experience designing data-centric and service-oriented architectures.
* Commercial awareness with aptitude for the practical realisation of new ideas
* Makes proportionate decisions to enable iterative progress
* Excellent communication skills including the ability to translate complex concepts to others including non-technical people
* Effective leader across multicultural teams
* Take ownership of complex challenges and driving them to resolution with integrity and professionalism.
* Proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement and learning.
* Ability to drive good decisions under highly demanding, dynamic environment
* Ability to organise self and prioritise workload of multiple projects in dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
* Competent IT skills including Microsoft software.
* Proficient in English, both verbally and written.

* Track record in the design, deployment and improvement of telecommunication systems and services
* Relevant space and/or maritime industry experience
* Previous experience of working with small/medium sized company
