Community Activity Support Volunteer - Oswestry

Location: Oswestry, Shropshire. Role type: Permanent; Full-time volunteer role with an expected commitment of around 6 hours per month. This role involves supporting people living with dementia to attend and participate in local pre-arranged social activities/groups, helping them stay connected and engaged with their communities and reducing social isolation. The role is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Criminal Records Check from the relevant authorities.
Responsibilities

* Help individuals stay connected and engaged with their communities and reduce social isolation.
What you’ll be great at
* Have an interest in developing meaningful relationships and making a real difference.
* Be committed to supporting people living with and affected by dementia to remain active in their local communities.
* Demonstrate empathy, compassion and patience.
* Have good listening and communication skills.
* Be aware of or are willing to learn about dementia and its impact on people.
Minimum age: 18 years.
