We specialise in supporting Children and Young People in care who have suffered early life trauma, neglect or abuse and as a result have Educational behavioural Difficulties. Responsibilities
* To manage a residential home and ensure the efficient operation of the service in accordance with the relevant legislation, procedures, policies and the Statement of Purpose for the home.
* Safeguarding and promoting individual rights; provide good quality care which is free from oppression and where differences are respected and valued.
* Develop and implement development plans to ensure high quality, clinically informed practice.
* Support adults to achieve the highest standards of care for the children and young people.
* Coordinate and monitor casework and administrative functions of the home, and evaluate standards of performance.
* Assess the needs of children and young people and prepare development plans to ensure appropriate service provision.
* Recruitment activities for the team including vetting, interviewing and induction of new employees.
* Contribute to training and development programmes to ensure required skills and expertise.
* Maintain professional standards through continuous development and record-keeping.
* Ensure staff longevity and good organisation retention; promote positive relationships among adults, young people and other stakeholders.
* Coordinate liaison with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams and commissioning authorities to meet care needs.
* Chair meetings, reviews and discussions as necessary.
* Maintain professional ethics and behaviour; coordinate service provision and provide support, advice and coaching to adults within the Home.
* Assist in management, appraisal, supervision and support of residential team.
* Organise duty rotas to meet the needs of the young people.
* Adhere to financial and administrative procedures and work within a set budget.
* Ensure all professional practice and medication processes comply with legislation.
* Collaborate with managers to meet emotional and physical needs of young people and plan for positive outcomes.
* Liaise with regulators and register with the regulator, upholding requirements and conditions.
* Complete necessary documentation for regulators and be available for inspections, checks or interviews as requested.
* Promote appropriate and therapeutic relationships between adults, young people and families; encourage involvement of children and young people in daily life of the home.
* Participate in an on-call system.
* Maintain a clean and safe environment; ensure high standards of building maintenance and prompt handling of repairs.
* Participate in corporate and management activities as defined by the director of care.
* Any other duties as required by operational managers or their representatives.
* Ensure safe working practices in line with Health and Safety legislation and cooperate with designated personnel as required.
Qualifications
* A Level 5 diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services or equivalent
* Experience at senior level in a Residential Children’s home
* Ability to demonstrate ethos and values of the organisation; numeracy, literacy and technology skills to required standard
* Ability to work as part of a team and with other agencies
* Understanding of the Children Act 1989 and safeguarding
* Knowledge of children’s home policies and procedures
* Proven leadership and management abilities; excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
* Ability to produce reports; working knowledge of Care Standards 2000 and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
* Ability to develop professional growth in others; ability to give formal and informal presentations

Special Working Conditions
* Registered Manager on-call duties; provide cover as needed for other homes
