Data Engineering Manager - Central Manchester - Salary £90,000 + Bonus
The Company:
Lorien are working with a client whose technology is at the heart of operations. As they continue to invest heavily in data capabilities, we’re looking for a Data Engineering Manager to lead a high‑performing team and shape the future of their data platform.
The Role:
This is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the design, development, and delivery of a scalable and robust data platform. You’ll manage and mentor a team of data engineers, ensuring the platform supports business intelligence, analytics, and machine learning initiatives across the organisation.
You’ll work closely with product managers, data scientists, and senior stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions, while championing best practices in data governance, security, and performance.
The Skill Requirements:
* Proven experience in data engineering, with 2+ years in a technical leadership or management role
* Strong technical proficiency in data modelling, data warehousing, and distributed systems
* Hands‑on experience with cloud data services (AWS Redshift, Glue, EMR or equivalent)
* Solid programming skills in Python and SQL
* Familiarity with DevOps practices (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code - e.g., Terraform)
* Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical audiences
* Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and managing engineering project lifecycles
