JOB SUMMARY:
The Transformer Specialist Engineer will be responsible for providing diagnostic asset management solutions to UK and EMEA customers including but not limited to, hands-on oil sampling, oil, and electrical test data interpretation, performing condition assessment (offline & online).The engineer will be required to provide specialist technical reports and liaise with customers for managing projects.
Knowledge about oil treatment services will be preferred.
Essential Job Functions
* Provides transformer condition assessment services.
* Experienced in hands-on DGA and oil quality sampling. Have prior knowledge of oil samples / containers storage, transportation and removal.
* Have understanding of COSHH implications and MSDS.
* Provides customer training in oil sampling, testing, management, and interpretation of results including technical training in the form of fee-based laboratory seminars.
* Performs laboratory inspections/audits to ensure laboratories are in compliance and following industry, Doble, and customer standards and specifications.
* Assists customers in developing a pro-active maintenance programs using oil related services.
* Collects oil samples from customer sites and provides recommendations to customers concerning test requests or in the diagnosis of a particular issue, including understanding about Corrosive Sulphur and passivator compounds and its importance in electric utilities.
* Perform offline HV tests to ascertain the condition of transformers and bushings.
* Conducts peer reviews on test data sheets and written reports.
* Experienced in maintaining Asset Health Registers for an electric utility.
* Serves as the subject matter expert on oil related services.
* Works in coordination with Sales teams and Support our sales channels internationally,
* Performs other duties as assigned by management.
EXPERIENCE - MUST HAVE:
* At least five (5) years of demonstrated technical background in the field testing of transformers, review of oil test results, and have an excellent understanding of power transformers overall.
* At least three (3) years of formal customer training on oil sampling, testing, management and interpretation of results.
* In-laboratory transformer oil testing experience.
* At least three (3) years of working with oil laboratories inspections to ensure laboratories are in compliance and following industry and customer standards and specifications.
* Excellent communications skills with customers and internal staff.
* Team orientation with leadership experience, good relational skills and cultural understanding from an international organization.
* Work experience in a in a matrix organization.
* The ability to travel up to 50% of the time to both domestically and internationally.
* Fluent in English language (both verbally and in writing.)
* Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint.)
OTHER HELPFUL EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE-
* Management experience working with a US based company.
* Worked in a position with extensive travel.
* Business language skills in such languages as German, French, Polish, and Arabic.
EDUCATION
* Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree.
