Responsibilities
* Develop hydraulic models using packages such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC‑RAS, and ICM to support Flood Alleviation Schemes, Flood Risk Assessments, and reservoir flood studies
* Analyse data using tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Python, and Microsoft Excel
* Produce high quality client reports
* Undertake hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2, and WINFAP
In addition to technical work, you will have opportunities to develop skills in project management and business development, and to mentor junior staff. You will join a team that brings expertise in hydrology, hydrogeology, water quality, catchment management, climate resilience, hydraulic modelling, flood risk, computational fluid dynamics, and related fields.
Candidate specification
Essential
* Experience in delivering flood risk management studies
* Experience using hydraulic modelling software
* Degree level qualification in hydrology, geography, mathematics, civil engineering, or related discipline
* Good communication and written skills
* Well organised and able to prioritise your own workload with minimal supervision
* Understand the importance of prioritising health, safety and environmental issues
Desirable
* Professional consultancy experience in flood modelling and flood risk management
* Working towards chartership with a professional body (e.g. ICE, CIWEM, IMA)
* Experience in managing flood risk studies
* Knowledge of flood modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HECRAS, or ICM
* Knowledge of using ArcGIS, QGIS and Python
