About us Garner & Hancock Solicitors is a long-established, community-focused law firm in West London (Isleworth), with over 140 years of history. As part of our continued growth, we are expanding our practice to the Hampton area. We are therefore looking for a capable, conscientious Private Client Paralegal to support fee earners across a varied caseload including Wills, Probate/Estate Administration, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Trusts and related Private Client matters. This is an excellent role for someone looking to build a long-term career in Private Client. Training and supervision are provided, and there may be an opportunity to apply for a training contract for the right candidate. Location and commute requirement This role will be based either in our Hampton or Isleworth office. You must be able to travel to the office within 1 hour. What you will do (Private Client focus) You will support fee earners and assist with day-to-day case progression, including: Drafting and preparing Wills and supporting documents (under supervision) Assisting with Probate and estate administration, including gathering asset and liability information, liaising with institutions, and preparing estate papers Preparing and progressing Lasting Powers of Attorney (Property & Financial Affairs / Health & Welfare), including drafting forms and supporting correspondence Drafting letters, attendance notes and routine documents, and maintaining high-quality written work Taking initial instructions, arranging appointments, and attending client meetings where appropriate Liaising professionally with third parties (banks, investment providers, HMRC, care homes, local authorities and other solicitors) Supporting with file management, deadlines, and general case administration Using case management systems and maintaining accurate records (including filing, post, and document bundling) Delivering excellent client care, including working sensitively with elderly or vulnerable clients What we are looking for Essential: A qualifying law degree (LLB or GDL) Successful completion of the LPC Strong written and verbal communication skills and confident telephone manner Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines A professional, empathetic approach to client care (Private Client work often involves sensitive circumstances) Good IT skills and confidence using a case management system, Outlook and Word Reliable, proactive, and able to use initiative while working under supervision Some prior office experience (legal environment preferred) Desirable: Experience in Private Client work (Wills, Probate/estate administration, LPAs and/or Trusts) is desirable Previous experience in a legal support role (beyond an internship) Familiarity with case management systems and document production Salary and working hours Salary: from £24,500 (reviewed after successful completion of probation) Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm Flexible working: available after probation, subject to role requirements Job Types: Full-time, Permanent What we offer Enhanced sick leave policy Private medical insurance Bereavement leave Employer pension contribution Season ticket loan Seminars & webinars LPC/SQE study loans and co-funding Professional course funding loans and co-funding Team health challenges and rewards 20 days annual leave (exclusive of bank/public holidays) Fully paid Christmas break Firmwide social events Supportive team culture and strong supervision Employee-discounted legal services How to apply Please apply with: CV, and Covering letter (applications without a covering letter will not be considered), including: Your interest in Private Client work Your relevant experience (Wills/Probate/LPAs if applicable) Confirmation you can commute to the office within 1 hour, and how you will travel Experience: Legal assistant/paralegal: 1 year (required) Work authorisation: United Kingdom (required) Work Location : Hampton, London
