We have a great opportunity for a Stores Person to support our long term street lighting maintenance contract covering Kent. This position is based from our Sittingbourne office.
Key activities
* Ensure Accurate and Timely Material Availability for Operational Needs Maintain stock accuracy through daily picks, receiving, and packing of materials, ensuring the correct items are available for crews and project schedules. This includes separation and labelling of materials for schemes or stock, and timely communication with planning teams regarding availability.
* Maintain Inventory Reliability Through Effective Receiving, Storage, and Returns Management Control all inbound and outbound material movements including the receiving, checking, and appropriate storage of deliveries and returns. Ensure returned materials are cleaned, tested, and either re-stocked or documented for return to suppliers.
* Preserve Quality and Reusability of Project Materials
Perform quality checks and reconditioning tasks such as testing, cleaning, painting, and component stripping to maximise the usability of recovered or surplus items.
* Support Operational Efficiency Through Documented Processes and Clean Work Environments Maintain accurate records such as delivery notes, return logs, and stock movement sheets. Ensure storage areas, the yard, and welfare facilities are clean and organised, to enable efficient operations.
* Operate Material Handling Equipment Safely and Efficiently Use forklift and reach truck to support material movement, ensuring safety, speed, and accuracy in loading/unloading and stock organisation.
* Ensure Health, Safety and Equipment Compliance Carry out daily and weekly safety and compliance checks (e.g., FLT checks and fire alarm tests) to maintain a safe and legally compliant working environment.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Solid hands-on experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, ideally within construction, electrical, or infrastructure sectors.
* Proven experience in goods receiving, inventory control, stock picking, returns processing, and maintaining accurate records.
* Valid Forklift and Reach Truck Licenses are essential.
* Demonstrable experience in safely loading, unloading, and relocating goods using material handling equipment in a busy yard or warehouse setting.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills with warehouse staff, planners, site teams, and drivers.
* Experience in maintaining clean, safe, and organised workspaces, including compliance with HSE and housekeeping standards.
* Skilled in handling documentation, including delivery notes, return-to-stock sheets, and material tracking logs.
* Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, while also being self-driven and capable of working independently.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills with warehouse staff, planners, site teams, and drivers.
* Full and Clean UK Driving licence
