The role:
We are seeking an experienced Children’s Finance Manager to cover a backfill position within the social care and learning support division. This role involves managing the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and High Needs Safety Valve agreements, as well as overseeing school funding. The two portfolios will soon be combined into one role, and the manager will play a crucial part in ensuring financial oversight and stability across both areas.
Key Responsibilities:
* Line management of approximately 8 staff
* Oversee financial management within social care and schools finance
* Monthly financial monitoring and reporting
* Attendance at senior leadership meetings
* Respond to ad hoc queries and requests
* Focus on financial reporting and analysis with minimal written reports
What the client is looking for:
* Essential:
o Experience within local authority finance
o Strong understanding of SEND and High Needs finance
o Qualified accountant or equivalent experience with a proven track record
o Ability to work independently with minimal onboarding
o Experience presenting financial data at senior leadership level
* Desirable:
o Experience in school funding
o Familiarity with SAP systems for financial reporting
The Candidate:
* Demonstrated local authority finance experience
* Proven experience with SEND, DSG, and High Needs
* Evidence of strong financial reporting and monitoring skills
* Experience working with senior leadership teams
