About the role
This is an opportunity for a 2 year fixed term contract.
The Fire and Gas Mapping Engineer is a pivotal role within the Commercial Operations department, focusing on delivering expert fire and gas detection mapping services. Working closely with the Project Engineering team, this role will ensure the highest quality of service and support to the EMEA region.
The tasks and responsibilities below are typical of the duties the postholder will be expected to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar nature and level may be required from time to time.
* Fire and Gas Mapping Excellence:
Conduct comprehensive fire and gas mapping activities to identify and assess risks, ensuring all deliverables are of the highest quality and comply with BS 60080 and related standards.
Work with customers to create 3D models of their sites where necessary.
Generate accurate and detailed functional descriptions and CoGs sheets to support the sales team, facilitating informed decision‑making and tailored solutions for clients.
* Technical Support and Guidance:
Provide expert technical support and guidance to all functions within the organisation, including sales, project management, and engineering teams, ensuring a cohesive approach to fire and gas detection solutions.
Stay abreast of industry developments, regulations, and technological advancements to continuously improve our services and advice.
* Quality and Compliance:
Uphold the company's commitment to product and service quality by ensuring all mapping activities and reports meet internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to maintain and enhance quality control procedures and documentation.
* Regional Support and Collaboration:
Support the EMEA region as necessary, ensuring timely and efficient support in enquiries, tenders, application notes and mapping reports for all regional Countries.

* Continuous Improvement:
Employ Lean Six Sigma principles to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the fire and gas mapping processes, driving efficiency, innovation, and excellence.
Encourage a culture of continuous learning and development within the team, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance overall capabilities.
* Safety and Risk Management:
Ensure the highest standards of safety are maintained during all field‑based activities, utilising risk assessments and hazard observation practices to identify and mitigate potential risks.
* Cost Management:
Collaborate with project management and material resource planning teams to monitor and control costs associated with fire and gas mapping activities, ensuring budget compliance.
* Leadership and Team Development:
Support the development of a high‑performance culture within the Project Engineering team, mentoring and guiding colleagues to achieve departmental goals and personal growth.

Reporting Relationships
Manager - Engineering Manager (FGDS)
Size of team/environment – Working in a team of 10 engineers, you are supported by several functions including project management, project documentation, manufacturing, customer management and our resource planning team. Our offices are split across ground and first floor with good lighting, air conditioning and a fundamental focus on safety and product quality.

Education/Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or above in an electrical, instrumentation and control discipline.
Related Experience
* Fire & Gas Detection principles.
* Working independently with customers.
* Working with industrial control panels.
* Physics and Chemistry experience/background.
* Computer experience on SAP, CRM, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.), AutoCAD (or similar) and SharePoint.
