Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Outskirts of Bolton (Hybrid – 4 days onsite)
Salary: Up to £50,000 DOE

We are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering organisation developing innovative products and solutions used across Europe. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of projects throughout the full product lifecycle, working within a collaborative engineering environment to deliver high-quality, commercially viable designs.
The Role
* Lead mechanical design activities from initial concept through to production release
* Take ownership of technical decisions and contribute to design reviews and engineering discussions
* Develop practical, cost-effective solutions with consideration for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and lifecycle requirements
* Produce detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and associated documentation
* Conduct engineering analysis and validation activities to support design decisions
* Build, modify, and evaluate prototypes to verify concepts and product performance
* Work closely with internal stakeholders across engineering, operations, procurement, and quality functions
* Liaise with external suppliers and manufacturing partners throughout the development process
Requirements
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
* Strong 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
* Experience designing components and assemblies for manufacture
* Hands‑on prototyping, testing, and product development experience
* Strong communication, problem‑solving, and project ownership skills
* Experience with engineering analysis tools would be advantageous
* Familiarity with product data management systems is desirable
* Familiarity with FEA, CFD, or other simulation and analysis tools is desirable
