The Youth Work Service in Dumfries and Galloway offers an exciting opportunity for a Youth Development or CLD Worker with significant experience working with young people. Join an innovative and award-winning youth work team to lead the delivery of Youth Work Services within the Annandale & Eskdale Area of Dumfries & Galloway in this permanent position.
The Annandale & Eskdale Area provides various youth services, including young parent groups, lunch clubs, groups for young people with Additional Support Needs and Disabilities, Music and Arts programs, issue-based groups, and work within secondary schools. You will lead the development of all youth work in the area and support regional participation networks and projects.
This role is a unique opportunity to lead the next phase of youth work in the area, enhancing engagement and support for more young people aged 12+.
Applicants should be motivated, interested in working with young people, and experienced in youth or community work. The role involves working within community settings with vulnerable youth and managing a team of part-time Youth Workers and volunteers.
To be appointed at Band 9, candidates must hold a degree in Youth Work or Community Learning & Development, or a recognized equivalent. Candidates with at least 3 years of youth work experience may be considered for Band 8.
This role is part of a wider team supporting creative youth activities and participation across Dumfries and Galloway, with ample opportunities for training and development.
Additional Information
This position is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG check prior to employment.
Applicants with recent residence outside the UK will need to provide a police record check from the relevant authorities.
The role requires working at least 2 evenings per week and weekends twice a month, with additional compensation included in the salary.
