Overview
Technology Design Engineer — Amey Consulting, part of the Consulting Energy, Lighting & Technology (ELT) Practice, based in Birmingham with shared offices in Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Bristol. Amey provides full life-cycle engineering, operations and decarbonisation solutions for transport infrastructure and complex facilities.
We are a design partner to National Highways, supporting the Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) for the design and delivery of roadside technology renewals across RIS2 and RIS3 periods, and we participate in National Highways frameworks including SPaTS2, OTCF and ITCF.
Responsibilities
* Work in a team to produce technically sound engineering solutions for operational roadside technology schemes
* Prepare designs, calculations, drawings and documentation to meet quality, cost and programme criteria
* Identify design risks and hazards and communicate them with Principal Contractors via scheme safety risk management documentation
* Oversee junior staff in similar tasks and take responsibility for their actions where appropriate
* Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attend progress meetings and respond to queries
* Contribute to bid preparation and general winning activity
* Promote effective health and safety practices within the team
What You Will Bring To Us
* Developed experience in roadside technology, likely in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent
* Knowledge of roadside technology design processes and procedures or on-road operational and maintenance experience
* Ability to produce technically sound engineering solutions compliant with relevant standards and client requirements
* Experience in health, safety and welfare tasks such as Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
* Working knowledge of CAD design tools
* A can-do attitude and desire to progress and learn
* Ability to work well in a team and also independently
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject or demonstrable equivalent
* Commitment to plan actions and dates leading to professional qualification (Incorporated or Chartered status) or an equivalent professional licence
* EngTech status is desirable
