Join to apply for the Hospital Chaplain role at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust
To support and enable the Chaplaincy Team in providing religious, pastoral, and spiritual support for patients, carers, and staff throughout the Trust.
The post holder will liaise with the Lead Hospital Chaplain and other members of the Chaplaincy team to develop and maintain services across the Trust.
Responsibilities include leading in areas agreed with the Lead Chaplain, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and deputising for the Lead Hospital Chaplain during absences, including managing day-to-day departmental operations.
Spiritual and Religious
* Work with the Lead Hospital Chaplain to deliver religious, spiritual, and pastoral care throughout the hospital community.
* Collaborate with other Chaplains, Volunteers, and staff.
* Provide resources for the Trust and assist in public worship in the Multi Faith Prayer Room and on wards.
Professional
* Participate in the departmental 24/7 ‘on-call’ duties, including weekend cover (currently 1 in 2 schedule).
* Respond offsite within 30 minutes as required.
Freedom to Act
* Initiate actions within the Chaplaincy code of conduct.
* Act independently within Trust policies and procedures.
Personal
* Attend relevant training and maintain professional development.
* Adhere to the College of Health Care Chaplains’ Code of Conduct.
* Provide ethical, theological, and pastoral support within the Trust.
Communications and Relationships
* Seek support and supervision from the Lead Chaplain.
* Influence decision-making and report incidents as necessary.
Other Responsibilities
* Supervise Chaplaincy Visitors and theological students on placement.
