As a Theatre Clinical Head of Department at Nuffield Health Taunton Hospital, you’ll be a qualified RGN/ODP with NMC/HCPC registration and a mentorship qualification. You will have significant nursing management experience and be organised, highly motivated, and engaged.
As a Theatre Clinical Head of Department, you will:
* Provide strong clinical leadership for a team of highly qualified nurses/Operating Department Practitioners
* Assume overall accountability for clinical effectiveness and operational management to deliver the highest quality perioperative care
* Utilise your knowledge to help shape an exceptional patient experience
* Develop your team through mentorship and training
* Support the development of local strategies
You will do this by:
* Driving a strong patient safety culture throughout the department, encouraging staff to speak up and report safety concerns
* Working with the Director of Clinical Services to evaluate departmental structures and processes, ensuring effective workforce management and agile service delivery that fully meets patient, staff, and clinical needs
* Collaborating with other clinical leaders within the hospital to build strong working relationships that enhance patient care and service delivery
* Taking on additional responsibilities and extending scope of practice as appropriate, e.g., Surgical First Assistant
* Seeking opportunities to evaluate and improve patient experience based on feedback, complaints, and accolades
* Acting as a role model, leading, coaching, and mentoring the team, promoting evidence-based and innovative practices, and fostering a culture of openness and safety
* Contributing to the development of nurses and nursing practice through leading clinical projects and supporting training
