Your day-to-day responsibilities:
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering a major capital investment project in Bedford, Nova Scotia, driving the successful execution of a large-scale, multi-year transformation initiative.
This position offers a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of capital project delivery, engineering leadership, and operational integration, where you will serve as the technical lead and key integrator across multiple project streams. You will be responsible for ensuring alignment between engineering solutions, project execution, and business objectives, while partnering with cross-functional teams and external engineering firms.
This is a high-visibility role with direct exposure to senior leadership, ideal for a candidate who thrives in complex, fast-paced project environments and is motivated by delivering impactful, large-scale results.
7. Lead the technical execution of a large, multidisciplinary capital project (building, process, utilities, automation)
8. Oversee and coordinate multiple project workstreams (facility expansion, utilities, equipment installation)
9. Manage and collaborate with external engineering firms, consultants, and contractors
10. Review, challenge, and validate engineering designs and deliverables
11. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and execution plans
12. Ensure alignment between technical decisions, project timelines, and overall objectives
13. Support and oversee construction, installation, and commissioning activities
14. Drive project performance to ensure delivery on time, on scope, and on budget
15. Collaborate with engineering partners during design development and technical reviews
16. Maintain a strong on-site presence during execution, ensuring effective coordination and project delivery
The expected level of standards:
17. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline
18. 7–10+ years of experience in project engineering and capital project delivery within industrial or manufacturing environments
19. Proven track record successfully delivering large-scale capital projects ($20M+)
20. Strong experience leading and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering projects
21. Demonstrated ability to manage and collaborate with external partners, consultants, and vendors
22. Solid systems thinking with the ability to navigate and oversee complex technical environments
23. Proven strength in project planning, structuring, and execution
24. Ability to lead, influence, and drive alignment without direct authority
25. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior and executive leadership
26. Strong stakeholder management skills in matrixed and evolving environments
27. Resilient, adaptable, and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities
