Our client offers specialist boat repair and dry dock facilities across the UK, due to expansion they now require a Vessel Manager to work from their North East facility.
The Role
You should be both a technical expert and a skilled project manager, able to communicate effectively with senior Naval Officers and Civil Servants through to the most junior levels.
You will ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective management and technical operation of company-managed vessels.
Technical Operations
Provide shore support to maintain vessels in operational readiness.
Oversee maintenance, repair, dry docking, and survey scheduling.
Prepare maintenance period specifications and review with SMT.
Evaluate tenders and manage maintenance period and repair execution.
Manage and procure spare parts/stores economically.
Ensure compliance with classification society, international and flag state regulations.
Health, Safety, Environment, Quality (QHSE)
Promote and enforce safety culture onboard.
Conduct and follow up on audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
Collaborate with HSE team on system and policy implementation.
Vessel Visits
Minimum of four visits per year to assigned vessels.
Inspect, supervise repairs, and provide hands-on support.
Ensure vessels comply with classification and statutory standards.
KPI's
Management of company and contractual KPI's for their assigned vessel.
The Person
Class 1 CoC (Engineering) or relevant supervisory seagoing experience (Royal Navy Marine Engineer CPO/WO) or experience as a Technical Superintendent.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
High attention to detail, professionalism and ability to work under pressure.
SC Clearance required
Must be a UK Citizen
