As a Control Room Operator, you’ll be the first line of support when someone makes that crucial roadside call. Whether it's a breakdown, an accident, or an urgent road issue, you'll be the voice of reassurance, the problem-solver, and the one who mobilises the right teams to take action. From setting road signs and signals to coordinating with emergency services and ensuring our road workers can safely carry out maintenance and upgrades, you’ll be at the heart of it all.

We’re looking for people to join our diverse and energetic team to manage our road networks in the North West region, based at our Regional Operations Centre in Newton-Le-Willows.
Our Control Room Operatives operate 24/7, 365 days a year, working in shifts: 6 days on, 3 days off. The shifts include:
* 3 early shifts (6am - 2:26pm)
* 3 late shifts (2pm - 10:26pm)
* 3 rest days
* 3 cover shifts (any of the above)
* 3 night shifts (10pm - 6:26am)
The starting salary is up to £35,062.50 (including a 25% shift allowance), increasing to up to £36,512.50 after a 9-month probation period.

* Monitoring live traffic conditions using tools like CCTV, traffic sensors, and real-time data feeds to observe traffic flow, congestion, and incidents.
* Managing incidents such as accidents, breakdowns, or severe weather, including dispatching traffic officers, alerting emergency services, and setting up road closures and diversions.
* Providing accurate and timely information to road users via digital signs, local media, and traffic information services.
* Collaborating with stakeholders like police, fire services, and local authorities to manage incidents and ensure safety.
* Coordinating road maintenance and construction activities to ensure safety and minimize traffic disruption.

Other Requirements
* GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent. Relevant work experience or similar qualifications are also considered.
* Willingness to work shifts as part of a 24/7 schedule.
