The SCPHN training may be for you. The SCPHN course offers the opportunity to become a qualified Health Visitor or School Nurse.
Education & Training
The Level-7 SCPHN course is full‑time for one year, commencing September 2024. It is fully funded and salaried at the starting point of National Band 5 with Outer London HCAS. Successful applicants will be guided to apply for a place at the University of Hertfordshire. Potential students are required to have previously studied at least Level 6.

* Position: Student Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting / School Nursing)
* Tenure: Fixed term 12 months
* Salary/Band: AFC Band 5 (inclusive of Outer London HCAS)
* Location: Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield
* Hours: 37.5 per week
* Reporting line: Team Lead / Practice Assessor / Practice Supervisor / Practice Development Lead; accountable to Chief Nurse
Key Responsibilities
* Fulfil the requirements of the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse program by attending university course dates and practice placement days in accordance with university regulations.
* Work with the Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor to develop the skills and competencies to achieve NMC Registration Standards for Specialist Community Practice.
* Link the theoretical knowledge gained through the university programme to the practice situation with support from the Practice Assessor, Practice Supervisor and Professional Development Lead.
* Demonstrate an understanding of current and emerging national, regional, and local healthcare legislation, policies, and guidelines relevant to the chosen pathway (Health Visitor or School Nurse).
* Develop and refine skills in managing and prioritising workloads, and in team leadership and management.
* Work within university regulations pertaining to academic work and student conduct.
* Work within employing organisation policies as they relate to the clinical setting and employee responsibilities.

Location and Setting
North Middlesex University Hospital and community services (North Mid) is part of the Royal Free London Foundation Trust. The hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, maternity, children’s and adult services. It provides both hospital and community care and is located in Enfield.
