Overview
Consultant in Restorative Dentistry role at Swansea Bay University Health Board. This replacement post joins a team of 3.5 Consultants providing Specialist Restorative Dentistry services to the Health Board. The successful candidate will lead in support of Head and Neck Cancer patients and support other multidisciplinary care at Morriston Hospital, with additional sessions at Port Talbot Resource Centre. Clinically the postholder will undertake Consultant level care of patients referred to restorative dentistry, with emphasis on oral oncology rehabilitation.
The post contributes to the delivery of Health Board targets on new patient and treatment waiting times and includes support of intermediate dental services requiring Consultant and specialist input but not necessarily Consultant-delivered care. The role is primarily at Morriston Hospital with some sessions at the Port Talbot Resource Centre.
Main duties and requirements
Clinical: undertake Consultant-level care for patients referred to restorative dentistry, with emphasis on oral oncology rehabilitation. Contribute to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of dental issues and collaborate with consultant colleagues in a multi-professional environment. The department covers the full remit of specialist restorative dental procedures and includes ongoing training of junior staff.

Qualifications
Essential
* Full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC)
* On GDC Specialist Register for Restorative Dentistry or eligible for CCST within 6 months of interview and have passed Exit Fellowship Exam with UK RCS
Desirable
* Further relevant degree/diploma
* Teaching qualification or higher qualification in medical education
Experience

* Evidence of teaching and training of post/undergraduate clinical staff
* Evidence of initiating, progressing and completing audit
* Evidence of delivering specialist hospital services including working within a Head & Neck Oncology MDT

* Experience of research in Restorative Dentistry
