Lakeland Leather is recruiting for a Warehouse Operations Support Assistant, due to the continued expansion of our online business. This is a new role so it provides the successful applicant with a great opportunity to make it their own, with progression always possible for those who demonstrate the required skills and positive attitude.
The role is based at our home in the picturesque town of Ambleside.
Purpose:
The role will provide support across our Warehouse, Buying and E-Commerce functions, ensuring smooth flow of stock, accurate data management, and efficient handling of linked operational processes. This role helps connect the various stock-using-departments, maintaining stock integrity, and supporting the wider business with flexibility and attention to detail.
Key responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations
* Support the warehouse team as needed from time to time to help unload inbound stocks and pick, pack and despatch outbound customer orders to required standards and timelines.
* Process customer stock returns, ensuring items are correctly reallocated to available stock, and liaising with Customer Service staff with regard non-conforming returns.
* Maintain accuracy of the stock management system with timely updates.
* Carry out warehouse administration tasks, including for example:
* Producing price tickets to be sent out to manufacturers.
* Checking manufacturer-produced tickets to ensure barcodes scan correctly.
* Manage specific ad-hoc picks and returns for photography shoots, window displays and other business requirements.
* Support ad-hoc stock requests such as supplying stores with point-of-sale and stationery items.
Buying Support
* Support the Buying Team with stock related administration tasks.
* Manage and track movements of product samples by maintaining accurate records.
* Review factory shipments, liaising with the Buying team for approval and being a contact point for Freight Forwarders.
* Update order dates and shipment details in the ERP system.
* Maintain Critical Path documents to ensure timelines and milestones are up to date and report variances to Buyers.
E-Commerce Support
* Support the E-Commerce team with stock related administration tasks.
* Support online operations with efficient and accurate handling of product-related issues.
Skills & attributes:
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise across multiple tasks and departments.
* Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently.
* Confident working with various computer systems; experience with Navision (or similar ERP systems) desirable.
* High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly with stock data and administration.
* Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
* Flexible approach with a willingness to support ad-hoc business needs and willing to work beyond set hours as needed from time to time by the business.
Experience:
* Previous experience in a stock, warehouse, buying, or e-commerce role is advantageous.
* Experience in retail or fashion industry operations preferred.
* IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Working times:
* This is a hybrid role working 3 days per week in the warehouse and 2 days carrying out stock administration tasks.
* The standard hours are 37.5 per week Monday to Friday (occasional Bank Holiday working may be required).
* In peak season (10 weeks form start of November) some weekend working will be required.
