The role
As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working within Babcock Submarine Support Engineering supporting you’ll be empowered as a Task Owner, giving you the authority to apply your judgement across a wide range of electrical engineering challenges. You’ll support the Ministry of Defence with technical expertise, shaping solutions that directly impact submarine maintenance and operational readiness.
Day-to-day, you’ll be part of a team that values innovation, precision, and purpose.
1. Developing Design Change Instructions and conducting technical investigations
2. Performing submarine surveys and generating technical reports
3. Creating and analysing engineering databases
4. Scoping and scheduling tasks to support MOD operations
5. Applying engineering judgement across a variety of electrical challenges
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Electrical Engineer
6. Confident communicator with the ability to present ideas clearly to stakeholders
7. Comfortable working independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality outcomes
8. Experience in submarine maintenance (ex-operator or waterfront support preferred)
9. Other relevant electrical engineering experience will also be considered
Qualifications for the Electrical Engineer
10. A minimum Level 3 Electrical engineering qualification is required (details not specified in the job description)
