About the Opportunity
We are looking for Assistant Project Managers with experience in infrastructure and major construction projects to join our expanding team. In this role, you will play a key supporting role in helping our clients successfully deliver highly complex programmes across the built environment. The position is primarily based in Barrow, with on-site presence 3 to 4 days per week and the remainder hybrid or remote working flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of projects in accordance with organisational policies, processes, and procedures.
* Assist in the development and assurance of business cases as part of wider approval processes.
* Help translate customer requirements into defined project scopes and support scope management through effective change control.
* Contribute to the analysis, planning, and monitoring of project delivery to ensure timely and cost-effective outcomes.
* Support project performance reporting and help identify risks, issues, and opportunities.
* Assist in managing project assumptions, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.
* Promote compliance with safety, environmental, and management procedures.
* Support the application of appropriate project delivery strategies and commercial approaches.
* Coordinate with technical, engineering, project controls, commercial, and financial teams to ensure integrated project support.
* Help maintain accurate project records and documentation.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned initiatives.
What You’ll Need
* Some experience supporting the delivery of infrastructure or major construction projects.
* Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
* A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and project delivery.
* Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g. APM, PRINCE2, Agile).
* Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
* Working towards or holding an APM qualification (e.g. PFQ or PMQ) is desirable.
* An understanding of the Defence sector or experience working with Tier 1 contractors is advantageous.
* Membership of the Association for Project Management (MAPM) or similar professional body would be beneficial.
