Role description
The Data Centre Technical Team Lead (TL) is the technical owner of a project and is responsible for projects that are related technically and/or share the same product domain. This role may require travel for workshops, milestone meetings, Factory Test Witness calls, etc., primarily within the EMEA region.
Role accountabilities
* Technical Leadership – A TL shows strategic leadership by transforming business problems and PRDs into technical specifications. They set the strategy for the project and create the technical roadmap, including core design, technology choices and buy‑in. They are the final decision maker and tie‑breaker for technical decisions for the team.
* Technical Competence – The TL demonstrates deep expertise in the core technologies used in the project, understands the system, its dependencies and its history, and can execute any technical task required.
* Product Knowledge and Leadership – The TL has full end‑to‑end product or service knowledge, influences product strategy, and may act as product owner where none exists.
* Team Leadership – Acting as a role model, the TL delegates effectively, rallies the team, mentors, and keeps the team focused and healthy.
* Communication – The TL is the main engineering representative for the project and team, responsible for communicating strategy, design, decisions, solutions and status to key stakeholders such as VPs.
* Individual Contribution – A TL solves deep, complex technical problems, maintains high productivity and makes significant contributions to the project.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Architecture, Structural, Engineering, or a related field.
* Professional accreditation (e.g., CEng, PE) preferred.
Experience
* Time served experience in technical design for large‑scale data centre or mission‑critical infrastructure projects.
* Proven track record in design, BIM coordination, and technical submittals.
* If Mechanical discipline, highly preferable with Pipe Stress Analysis experience.
Skills
* Strong understanding of data centre design standards and processes.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Proficient in BIM, CAD, CFD and other common design software.
* Ability to review complex technical documentation and ensure compliance.
* Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
