Job Description
Data Engineering at Abcam
We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team at our Cambridge Head Office. The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineers, analysts, and end users to create integrated solutions that support our products. We value proactive individuals who own their solutions and leverage technology to impact our business. The role offers hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
In this role, you will:
* Promote best practices for data products and services within your team.
* Collaborate to identify, plan, develop, and deliver data services for key projects.
* Work with Digital team members to support various workstreams.
* Manage and analyze data securely, efficiently, and with proper governance.
* Implement and optimize data pipelines, modelling, and availability to accelerate deployment.
* Ensure high-quality delivery aligned with business needs.
* Partner with data architects, TechOps engineers, and stakeholders to build high-performing solutions.
* Apply pragmatic and innovative approaches to data-driven decision making.
* Collaborate across teams to resolve software and integration issues.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a BSc in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, with substantial technical experience. Experience with modern cloud data stacks, especially AWS, and integration of in-house and vendor components is essential. Strong SQL skills and data modelling expertise are required, along with creative problem-solving abilities. Experience in digital transformation projects and influencing change will be advantageous.
