Overview
We are looking for an experienced Assurance Advisor to support the safe and compliant delivery of decommissioning operations. This role will play a key part in monitoring performance across multiple work fronts, driving risk management, ensuring lessons are captured and embedded, and supporting operational excellence through effective assurance activity.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct assurance visits and reviews across SVT decommissioning projects in line with the assurance plan and risk profile.
Monitor site performance to identify where additional support or actions are required, escalating concerns to the Senior Advisor or Manager.
Organise and support seven-day reviews following close calls, incidents, and accidents, ensuring full investigations are completed.
Track compliance and assurance visit outcomes against the VMR (Visit Monitoring Register).
Support sites in carrying out event investigations to establish root causes and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including Site Managers, Decommissioning Leads, and Contractors.
Escalate unsafe acts or conditions and, where required, stop unsafe work.
Support the Risk & Assurance team in communicating good practice and lessons learned across the decom programme.
Assist with the delivery and tracking of improvement projects, ensuring actions are completed and embedded at site level.
Skills & Experience
Strong background in health and safety, assurance, risk management or operational site supervision.
Experience working in major hazard environments - oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, or COMAH sites.
Hands-on experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and assurance activities.
Confidence to engage at all levels - from site workforce to senior leadership.
Excellent organisational skills, able to manage multiple assurance activities.
Ability to make sound decisions under pressure, including escalating and stopping unsafe work.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Qualifications
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent as a minimum).
Experience in assurance, compliance, or safety management in operational environments.
Knowledge of ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001) beneficial.
Offshore survival and medical preferred (BOSIET / OGUK).
