Job overview
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Registered Dental Nurse to support the Dental Matron in the management of dental nurse teams supporting clinical care and delivering dental nurse education.
The successful candidate will have experience in managerial role within dental nursing and will be able to motivate and inspire teams to deliver clinical and educational excellence.
In addition to having the responsibility for ensuring that the dental nurse resource is effectively utilised across the Directorate you will also be the focal point for issues relating to quality management, clinical governance, professional development and control of infection within the dental nursing team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To be a highly visible professional lead for Dental Nursing within the Dental Directorate establishing and maintaining professional standards within the dental nursing team.
* Directly manage the registered dental nursing team within the Dental Directorate ensuring effective deployment of the staffing resource to meet service needs.
* Be the focal point for control of infection, quality and governance issues within the dental nursing team linking with Directorate Clinical Specialty Leads, consultants, Trust-wide and Directorate governance and safety processes; in doing so ensure that delivered care is of the highest standard.
To facilitate the professional development of registered dental nurses and apprentice dental nurses within the dental directorate.
* Organise and co-ordinate work experience programmes within the Dental Directorate.
Person specification
Qualifications & Education
* • Degree in relevant subject or equivalent experience
* • Registered Dental Nurse (RDN) with a wide range of clinical, educational and managerial experience
* • Driving license and access to personal transport
* • Qualified Dental Nurse Assessor
* • Recognised teaching qualification e.g. Certificate in Further Education or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
* • Specialist knowledge of RDN clinical practice, educational standards and qualifications
* • Teaching/coaching experience
* • Understanding of educational awarding body requirements and educational contracting processes
* • Budgetary management experience
* • Working knowledge of Health & Safety procedures
