Marksman Roofing & Cladding Ltd are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Buyer to support our procurement team in the timely and cost-effective purchasing of materials, tools, and equipment for construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with suppliers, site managers, and the buying team to ensure that materials are delivered on time and meet required quality and compliance standards.
What You'll Be Doing:
•Assist in sourcing and selecting suppliers and materials based on price, quality, and delivery timelines.
•Obtain quotes, compare costs, and negotiate prices with suppliers under the guidance of the Senior Buyer.
•Process purchase orders accurately and ensure timely delivery to construction sites.
•Monitor and track the status of orders, updating project teams accordingly.
•Monitor and analyse contract budgets to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and alignment with project goals.
•Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases.
•Coordinate with site managers and project teams to understand material requirements and delivery schedules.
•Supplier meetings and engagement.
•Building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders.
•Help manage stock levels and support the implementation of inventory control procedures.
•Stay updated on market trends, material availability, and pricing fluctuations.
We'd love to hear from you if:
•You have previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, or construction admin role (1-2 years preferred).
•Knowledge of construction materials and supply chain practices is a strong advantage.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with procurement or ERP systems is a plus.
•Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
•Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
•A qualification in supply chain management, construction management, business, or a related field is desirable.
