This Operational Accountant role supports Livewell Southwest’s Management Accounts team by providing accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis and advice.
Job Responsibilities
* Monthly and annual accounts closedown, ensuring accurate forecast positions for sustainability papers.
* Meet budget holders to review and plan budgets, explain variances and align budgets with available resources.
* Develop and support Cost Improvement Plans (CIP) with budget holders to achieve cost savings and sustainability.
* Provide business planning support, including business‑planning sign‑off.
* Create budget‑holder training packs and train staff to review budgets effectively.
* Maintain ledger and budget information, ensuring accurate reporting and timely approval of recruitment forms.
* Investigate and report on significant variances to senior finance staff.
* Monitor new investments, ensuring value for money and adherence to deferral policies.
* Approve or decline Approval to Recruit (ATR) forms, minimizing disruption to services while staying within budget.
* Adjust responsibilities as needed to meet changing business demands.
Additional Responsibilities
* Ensure invoices are raised promptly to maintain the cash position.
* Amend budgets for pass‑through costs or income as appropriate.
* Represent operational localities in monthly closedown and budget setting, ensuring value for money.
* Work at home following the hybrid policy and DSE guidance.
* Travel independently to Livewell Southwest sites and community locations, including sites not served by public transport.

Experience
* Experience within a finance setting.
* Experience of forecasting and planning.
* Ability to analyse and report on financial information.

* Decision‑making in line with organisational policies.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of Oracle financial systems.
* Completion of budget, pay and expenditure journals.
