Sunderland is a forward-thinking and ambitious city undergoing significant transformation and economic regeneration. Sunderland City Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hardworking Assistant Road Safety Technician to support the delivery of a modern, customer-focused, and integrated road safety service within a busy and fast-paced technical environment.
The successful applicant will assist in responding to a range of road safety activities including, but not limited to:
help deliver road safety services, involving education, school crossing patrols, child pedestrian training, and to assist in the introduction of measures to improve road
coordinate the day- to-day provision of School Crossing Patrol Officers ensuring continued service delivery at various citywide
prepare and deliver a programme of road safety education and training throughout the city, assisting with road safety schemes, and contributing to the development and delivery of measures aimed at reducing road casualties.
The role will also involve providing technical advice, engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders, and supporting any necessary enforcement or monitoring Applicants should demonstrate a good understanding of road safety legislation, highway standards and associated health and safety requirements, along with the ability to accurately record, interpret and present technical information. A willingness to undertake relevant training and develop technical knowledge is essential.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to deal confidently and effectively with members of the public, businesses, and partner organisations. A strong commitment to customer service excellence, attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are key requirements for this role.
