Overview
Assistant role supporting the Farm Management Team on a Company Broiler farm. The role involves learning all functions of farm management including husbandry, ensuring stock produced meets required specifications in weight, quality, welfare, and other standards. Responsibilities
* Gain understanding of poultry operations within MP.
* Contribute to the department and develop skills in line with MP competency framework.
* Actively reduce negative environmental impact (e.g., waste reduction, recycling).
* Maintain correct and up-to-date records related to birds, feed, supplies, etc.
* Assist operations such as vaccinating, bird weighing and catching, and collection to support smooth processing and customer satisfaction.
* Be aware of basic first aid and hold the Basic Food Hygiene certificate as per EU ruling.
* Take responsibility for self-development and training in all aspects of farm management, in partnership with the Farm Manager.
* Maintain communication with the farm management team regarding crop performance and flock welfare.
* Uphold professional integrity and appearance of the farm at all times.
* Prioritize bird welfare at all times.
* Maintain high housekeeping standards, keep lanes clear, control litter, and manage grounds to reflect well on the company and reduce vermin risk.
* Monitor ventilation, heating, feed, water, and lighting within guidelines to ensure a high-quality environment for birds.
* Follow company procedures and safety standards; report any shortfalls to the Farm Manager.
* Understand operation of farm equipment and liaise with the Farm Manager to address defects without compromising welfare.
* Ensure health and safety policy adherence to prevent injuries or unsafe practices.
* Support farm security and access control; assist authorised personnel as required.
* Advise the Farm Manager on improvements to methods or operations to increase efficiency and economy.
* Any other duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Basic understanding of poultry farming operations.
* Basic Food Hygiene certificate (as per EU ruling).
* Basic first aid knowledge.
* Willingness to develop and train in all aspects of farm management.
* Ability to work 40 hours per week, 5 days in 7 (6 when required).
