We are delighted to be recruiting for an Assistant Director Education, Inclusion & Achievement



Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Children’s Services are on an ambitious transformation journey, committed to forging strong, lasting relationships with children and families to create better outcomes. We’re tackling the challenges of SEND and Inclusion with determination —and we need bold, innovative leadership to drive real change.



This is your chance to lead with integrity, influence policy, and strengthen partnerships across schools, governors, and communities. Bring your expertise in school improvement, strategic thinking, and budget management to make a real impact. As a key part of our leadership team, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of education in our borough.



As our Assistant Director, you will lead a passionate and knowledgeable team who are committed to improving educational outcomes, inclusivity and local sufficiency. You will work closely with colleagues across Children’s Services to ensure that provision and services are high quality, provide value for money and reflect lived experience of children, young people and their families.



You will be an outstanding leader with an exceptional track record in improving education for all learners, particularly those with SEND. You will be confident in identifying and driving forward areas for transformational change to deliver excellent and inclusive services.



You’ll bring a comprehensive understanding of the challenges facing local government as well as the statutory framework governing education.



You’ll have a clear and strong personal commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and a track record of leading by example.

The anticipated timeline for the recruitment process is as follows:

Assessment day (in person in Stockton-on-Tees): Monday 21 July 2025

Final Panel Process (in person in Stockton-on-Tees): Tuesday 26 August 2025
