Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/(Arts) Psychotherapist – Devon Partnership NHS Trust
Permanent, full‑time (or part‑time) position. Permanent role offered across the Adult Core Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) in South Devon, West Devon, South Hams, Teign, Torbay, etc. Interviews planned for 9th and 10th December 2025.
Job Summary
Experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychological Therapist (including Arts Therapists) with a passion for psychologically informed approaches in mental health. Lead clinical work in specialist field, deliver high‑quality person‑centred services, and contribute to service development.
Main Duties
* Provide specialist caseload and consultation to patients and professionals.
* Deliver psychological therapies and interventions across communities.
* Act as clinical lead, supervise less experienced staff, trainees, and volunteers.
* Govern systematic provision of psychological services across identified localities.
* Maintain professional registration with HCPC and compliance with BPS guidelines.
* Support service development, research, audits, and policy implementation.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (D.Clin.Psychol, MA Arts Psychotherapy or equivalent) with eligibility for Chartered status with the British Psychological Society.
* Registered with HCPC.
* Experience in adult mental health services, with knowledge of complex and severe mental health difficulties.
* Experience in teaching, training, supervision, and leadership within clinical psychology services.
* Proficiency in individual and group therapy approaches.
Desirable
* Further training in a second psychological therapy modality (e.g. family or systemic therapy).
* Project management skills and experience of service redesign.
* Advanced assessment and formulation skills, including risk assessment.
* Information technology competence for record‑keeping and evidence‑based practice.

* Strong organisational, planning and time‑management abilities.
* Ability to work autonomously within professional guidelines.
