At Sodexo, we believe in creating safe, welcoming environments where people can thrive. We are looking for a Facilities Security Coordinator (Night) to join our team at Northumbria University, supporting a vibrant student accommodation community operating 24/7, 365 days a year.
This is more than a security role, it’s an opportunity to lead from the front, ensuring a safe, secure, and supportive environment for residents while coordinating night operations and guiding a dedicated team.
What you’ll do
* Lead and coordinate night shift operations, ensuring consistent service delivery
* Act as the primary escalation point for incidents and emergencies
* Provide visible, proactive security presence through site patrols
* Monitor CCTV systems and manage access control across the site
* Supervise, support and coach Facilities Support Officers (FSOs)
* Deliver excellent customer service through the out-of-hours helpdesk/reception
* Manage incidents including fire alarms, anti-social behaviour, and welfare concerns
* Maintain accurate records, logs and incident reports
* Support student wellbeing by offering guidance and signposting when needed
* Contribute to site upkeep, including basic maintenance reporting and caretaking duties
* Assist with student arrivals/departures and summer commercial operations
* Support the on-site café operation when required
What you bring
Essential
* Valid SIA Licence (Manned Guarding or Door Supervision)
* At least 2 years' experience in security or a similar operational role
* Experience supervising or guiding team members
* Strong customer service skills (hospitality, residential, or education preferred)
* Confident decision-making in high-pressure situations
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to manage conflict and support individuals in sensitive situations
* Good organisational skills and basic IT proficiency
Desirable
* SIA CCTV Licence
* Experience in student accommodation or Higher Education
* Experience conducting 1:1s or coaching team members
* First Aid at Work qualification
* Experience in 24/7 operational environments

Package Description
* £13.71ph
* Northumbria University Trinity Square Student Accommodation 202 High Street, Gateshead
* 42 hours per week 5/7 nights to include weekends
* Working: 4 early shift, 4 off, 4 late/night shifts
* 12 hour shifts Mon,Tue,Wed,Thu,Fri,Sat,Sun 18:30-07:00 and 19:30-08:00
* MUST HOLD SIA LICENSE
