We currently have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Corporate Information Governance Officer to join our small and friendly Information Governance (IG) Team. We pride ourselves on providing high quality support to employees of the Council, Solihull Community Housing and Schools in all matters relating to Information Governance. Specifically, within this critical role, you will research, interpret and apply a range of complex IG legislation relating to Data Protection, Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations, Records Management, and Information Security. You will provide advice and guidance, supporting employees at all levels to understand and appropriately apply the legislation, various standards and official guidance, ensuring they remain legally compliant. Other duties include managing information requests made by members of the public under the Freedom of Information Act, Environmental Information Regulations and subject access requests made under Data Protection legislation. You will also assess and advise on information risks, completing data protection impact assessments and investigating data breaches. You will need an Information Governance qualification in Data Protection or Freedom of Information, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge gained through extended relevant experience. You will also have: Knowledge and experience of working with a large range of relevant Information Governance legislation and precedents The ability to provide timely and innovative solutions to sometimes complex or unusual problems. The ability to proactively keep up to date with changes to legislation, case law, official guidance, decision notices and any other IG matters and may impact upon local practice and procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to build good working relationships with a range of stakeholders Experience of designing and delivering training for a variety of audiences. As well as bringing your own knowledge and experience to the IG Team, you will benefit from working alongside other experienced IG Officers, a Records Manager and Information Governance Manager, who will always be available to offer support or to bounce ideas off.
