Inpatient Pharmacy Tech, Nationally Certified (Per Diem)
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
* Reviews and processes departmental order requests.
* Prepares medications for distribution to the patient care units.
* Distributes medications to the patient care units.
* Orders medications from various suppliers.
* Prepares parenteral products.
* Maintains the medication inventory, places orders in stock, checks expiration dates, processes returns as needed.
* Trains and orients new pharmacy support personnel.
* Billing and other pharmacy duties that do not require a pharmacist.
* Maintains appropriate records and regulatory documentation.
* Pre-packaging and labeling of bulk medications to unit dosed containers/packaging.
* Answers telephone, directing phone calls appropriately and diverts all medication/clinical inquiries to the Pharmacist.
* Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and coworkers.
* Maintains cleanliness of the department.
* Performs other work related duties as assigned.
Additional Inpatient Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician Duties And Responsibilities
* Obtains patient medication orders for medication reconciliation duties to input into MAR.
* Prepares chemotherapy and dosage calculation checks.
Inpatient Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician – Grade FHS 7A, Job Code 00024
* Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
* High school diploma or GED.
* Massachusetts state registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
* Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification or equivalent certification.
* One-year recent experience (within the past 3 years) as a Pharmacy Technician; 3 years preferred, OR PTCB certification or equivalent certification as an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
* Duties require very good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
