Responsibilities

* Adapt methods and techniques to solve electronic design and operational problems on technical electronic and electrical systems.
* Perform troubleshooting (e.g., system faults, ringing, wiring, connectors) of electronic equipment for preventative maintenance.
* Analyze interior communications and network systems test procedures to determine or improve effectiveness, reliability or validity of the process.
* Test and evaluate electronic equipment systems in Undersea Warfare Systems to solve design or operational problems.
* Lead technical work projects to ensure operability of electronic equipment, systems or sub‑systems found in Undersea Warfare Systems (e.g., communication systems, electronic warfare, imaging systems, or combat systems).
* Oversee the testing of electronic systems and equipment to solve design and operational problems.
* Provide technical support for using and adjusting electronic communications equipment and instruments for telecommunication connectivity.


Conditions of Employment

* Must be a U.S. citizen.
* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
* Must participate in the Direct Deposit pay program.
* New employees to the Department of the Navy must successfully pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
* Current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time‑in‑grade).
* Position is overseas; applicant must satisfy overseas requirements of DODI 1400.25.
* May require travel within and outside the contiguous United States, including remote or isolated sites.
* May be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
* If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement establishing a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
* May be required to obtain a visa depending on overseas country laws/regulations.
* Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance prior to duty; failure may result in withdrawal of offer or removal.
* Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug test (including marijuana) is required; failure may result in rescission of tentative offer.
* Must complete government credit card training and obtain a travel card for travel and related purchases.
* This position is considered Key/Emergency‑Essential and may require immediate and continuing support to ensure combat operations or availability of combat‑essential systems.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites.
* This is a Mission‑Essential position; applicant must ensure continuity of operations or completion of tasks considered essential to the mission.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

* Conducting surveys and/or investigations to identify and resolve problems with infrastructure systems and facilities, electronic equipment and communications systems, including satellite systems, processing systems, and underwater cable systems.
* Directing the full range (planning, design, development, construction, repair, alteration, and inspection) of Integrated Undersea Surveillance System (IUSS) or similar systems operations and communications systems.
* Providing technical support to personnel utilizing the IUSS or similar systems.
* Monitoring and/or inspecting on‑site operations, equipment failures, and maintenance procedures to ensure optimal performance and adherence to regulations.
* Applying electronic technological concepts to facilitate computer operations, operating systems, input/output devices, common interfaces, protocols, storage retrieval, archival functions, and accountability.


Other Eligibility Criteria

* Travel in the U.S. and abroad.
* Lifting of heavy boxes and publications.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet required deadlines.
* Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the duties outlined in this position description.
