The Greenshaw Learning Trust is ‘Always Learning’
We are looking for a dedicated Second in English to join our friendly, supportive team at Yate Academy, part of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, from September 2026.
About the role:
The successful candidate will support the Head of Department in leading, developing and enhancing the teaching of others, whilst contributing to curriculum planning and delivery. They will also act as the Head of Department in their absence.
The successful candidate will:
1. Act as the Head of English in the absence of the postholder.
2. Lead and develop English across key stages.
3. Lead, develop and enhance the teaching practice of others including involvement in DDI’s.
4. Contribute to curriculum planning and delivery as applicable
5. Support the senior leadership team to ensure high standards of behaviour.
6. To have impact on academic standards of students from the Key Stage, across subjects.
7. Ensure the safeguarding of students in line with the Trust’s Policies
8. Be accountable for leading, managing and developing department members.
9. To plan and teach consistently high-quality lessons across all key stages (KS3, 4 and 5).
