Purpose
As Senior Planner within ScottishPower Energy Networks (SPEN) Transmission Core Projects, you will be at the centre of a vibrant and evolving project delivery team responsible for development and management of project schedules within a portfolio for the multi‑billion‑pound future investment plan.
Schedules will be generated to support once‑in‑a‑generation Critical National Network Infrastructure Construction projects, reinforcing the existing Electrical Transmission Asset‑base and expanding the Transmission Network to meet future UK Network electricity demand and facilitate delivery of UK Net‑Zero strategy.
You will be directly responsible for the production, maintenance & update, change control, schedule risk management and reporting of high‑quality Primavera P6 Schedules for over £2bn of SP Transmission Strategic Reinforcement projects.
What you’ll be doing
Responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules for SP Transmission Core Projects, resolving all project scoping and project specific issues by interfacing with members of the Project Team, you will ensure all Environmental & Planning, Engineering Design and System Access requirements are taken into account whilst developing Core Project Transmission schedules.
You will interface with relevant business experts to obtain progress details required to provide adequate project scheduling updates, allowing project performance to be monitored against agreed project control measures (KPIs).
Responsible for updating project schedules at a pre‑determined frequency (usually monthly), obtaining relevant inputs through collaboration with other Project Team members, you will analyse internal departmental and external contractor project schedules as required, ensuring and advising the Project Team of their suitability and any actions required to meet overall project plan control and schedule targets.
Expected to attend internal and external meetings as required, providing planning advice, reports, KPIs and programme views to assist Project Team decision making, you will comply with the relevant Quality Management System, supporting any process improvement initiatives.
What you’ll bring
Educated to HNC level in an Engineering/Mathematical discipline or with previous experience in scheduling, programming, planning projects and a portfolio of works, you will possess knowledge of Engineering and/or Construction projects using Primavera P6 and MS Project planning software.
Experienced in working with Engineering specifications and documentation, you will be familiar with the configuration and general arrangement of electricity supply infrastructure such as Substations, Overhead Lines and Cables.
Possessing strong verbal and written communication skills, you will be experienced in report writing and use of MS Office tools such as Word, Excel and Access.
An appreciation of quality assurance processes is beneficial.
