Overview of Role Thorn SDS is a niche Managed Service Provider with a Head Office based in Alton, Hampshire, who is committed to enabling technology organisations and professionals to thrive within the Space, Defence and Security sectors. We are currently looking for a range of talented and motivated IT Engineers to support a major defence project based in the Hereford area. Opportunities include Network Engineers, Server Engineers, Installation Engineers, and IT Specialists, along with other skillsets, providing technical support and systems integration in a high-security environment. Primary Roles : Network Engineers – Design, configure, and maintain secure network infrastructure Server Engineers – Build, support, and optimise Windows and Linux-based server environments Installation Engineers – Deploy and configure hardware, cabling, and IT systems onsite IT Engineers – Deliver desktop support, user administration, and technical troubleshooting Key Responsibilities: Deliver and maintain secure IT systems aligned with project and security requirements Carry out installation, configuration, and support activities across varied IT environments Work collaboratively with technical teams and project stakeholders Troubleshoot issues, apply fixes, and maintain documentation Ensure adherence to cyber security protocols and operational standards Skills and Experience: Experience in a relevant IT engineering role (network/server/desktop/installation) Demonstrated capability within a defence environment.
