TheYouth and Employability department provides informal learning andengagement opportunities for young people to build and developessential life skills to support their transition to adulthoodengagement in their local community and employability skills forthe world of work.

NCS is a governmentfunded programmethat brings together young people aged 1517 year olds and engagesthem in a unique programme. NCS is designed to empower young peopleas they transition into young adults engaging them in activitiesthat challenge build confidence and develop skills. More detailscan be found at
This year our NCS team will be:
Taking over 400 young people on communityexperiences
Partnering with over 20 community andprofessional partners
Completing over 6000 hours of socialaction and volunteering

The NCS community programme is made up of 3experiences delivered locally
Phase 1 LifeSkills: The team of young people work together through taking partin exhilarating outdoor challenges and team building activities tobound and develop team work skills.
Phase 2Social Action: The team will work together using youth voice andcommunity research to make a difference to the community in whichthey live. They will take part in volunteering and delivering theirown social action projects
Phase 3Employability: This phase is about building and developing newskills and employability. Taking on team challenges designed topromote independence enterprise and help young people developskills to support them in the world ofwork.
Programmes length will vary and will runbetween Monday to Friday.
Purpose of therole
The NCS Youth Team leader role is keyin creating a positive safe and memorable NCS experience for a teamof 15 17 year olds. NCS Youth Engagement Workers will lead inspireand develop a team of up young people through all phases of the NCSprogramme.
NCS Youth Team Leaders will need tobe innovative and think outside the box. They will provide pastoralcare deliver inclusive curriculum sessions and support young peoplein implementing a social action project.
Therole is suitable for a dynamic and confident person who hasexperience of leading motivating and supporting groups of youngpeople to successful take part in activityprogrammes.
Main Responsibilities
Assist inspire and motivateyoung people through positive and creative sessions and activities.
Supervise and take responsibility for pastoralcare and safety needs of the young people are always met.
Support planning designing and delivery ofassigned curriculum sessions which include reflective learningfacilitating workshops and youthled delivery. Ensure sessions areconsistent with the project themes and youth work outcomes.
Build positive working relationships andsupport young people to work successfully and impactfully with keypartners including community groups venues and other providers.
Encourage young people to develop teamworkleadership and communication skills and to reflect on theirexperiences.
Engage and build positiverelationships with young people to provide effective supportmentoring and coaching on a onetoone and group basis where needed.
Collaborate with the Coordinators to ensure aunited approach to delivering sessions and supporting the team.
Be responsible for First Aid on the group andwith the group of young people.
Support youngpeople with challenging behaviour and ensure our code of conduct isupheld.
To understand and comply with allpolicies and procedures in line with Trust and contractualresponsibilities including the safeguarding of the young peopleGDPR health and safety and EDI.
Ensure alladministration tasks are completed accurately and within allocatedtime scales including handling personal data managing expenses andpetty cash safeguarding reporting and riskassessments.
Work closely with the ManagerCoordinators Youth Workers Coaches and community partners tosupport the young people on sessions.
Attendregular supervision sessions and compulsory training to enable allduties to be carried out effectively.
Work withother BFCCST staff to develop youth voice youth developmentprogrammes and groups and employability activity across otherBFCCST projects.
Any other reasonable duties andresponsibilities considered appropriate by the SeniorManager
Work flexible hours including regularevenings and weekends whenrequire.
PersonSpecification
Essential:
Experience of working directlywith young people (either in a voluntary or paid capacity)
A Safeguarding and First Aid qualification orwillingness to complete training.
Ability toinspire and motivate young people from a variety of culturaleconomic and social backgrounds.
Ability toassist support and facilitating both group sessions and 1 to 1activities.
Experience of building a positiverapport and empathy with young people and adults.
A proactive and adaptable approach to workingwith individual young people.

Strong interpersonal & communicationskills
